Steps to fill posts in medical colleges

HYDERABAD, AUG. 1. In a quick response to the Government's decision to recruit teaching staff in its medical colleges, the Medical and Health Department on Sunday invited applications to fill posts of Assistant Professor.

These vacancies, numbering nearly 300, have led to a virtual crisis in Government medical colleges as the Medical Council of India (MCI) has been cancelling seats on the ground that its norms regarding teaching staff were not met.

The Principal Secretary, Medical and Health, S. Bhale Rao, said in a notification that the application forms would be made available from August 5 at a cost of Rs. 100 and at Rs. 20 for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates. The applications can be had from the office of the Director of Medical Education, Director of Health, Principals of Government Medical Colleges or DM&HOs. The last date for submitting applications is August 14.

Candidates with post-graduate degree in various disciplines or equivalent qualification prescribed by the MCI could apply. Selection would be based on merit and seniority of acquiring the PG degree. Rule of reservation will be followed as stipulated by the Government and the pay and allowances as per the existing scales of pay.
