VISAKHAPATNAM: Finance Minister K. Rosaiah will formally commission the Velagapudi Steels Limited (VSL)'s rolling mill at Sampathpuram village, near Anakapalle, on Friday.

The factory, set up with an investment of Rs.23 crores, has a capacity to produce 60,000 high strength re-bars as per the unique quenching and self-tempering (QST) technology under licence from Hennigsdorfer Stahl Engineering Gmbh, Germany.

The entire quenching system has been supplied by H&K Rolling Mills (H&K India).

The VSL QST re-bars would have special features of high strength coupled with excellent ductility -- an essential requirement for earthquake-prone areas, VSL director C. Siva Prasad and H&K India chairman and managing director R.K. Markan told reporters on Thursday.
