ADILABAD: Tribal Welfare Minister and district incharge D.S. Redya Naik on Monday said that a special fund would be set up for carrying out repairs in tribal welfare schools.

He said such funds would be sourced from the unutilised budget of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Utnoor.

The Minister chaired the meeting of the governing body of the ITDA at Utnoor on Monday where he asked for proposals for the works to be sent for approval soon.

Chennur Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) member Ponnam Muralidhar demanded that benefits given to the primitive tribal groups (PTGs) be provided to Manne tribals. Though Manne tribals were one among the PTGs, they were not recognised because they inhabited plain areas.

Financial assistance

Mr. Redya Naik asked ITDA Project Officer Saurabh Gaur to examine feasibility of opening a school for 15 Manne tribal students of Dahegaon. He asked for an economic assistance of Rs. 50,000 to be given to each of the families of four tribal students who died in hostels in the last few months. Adilabad MP T. Madhusudan Reddy, MLAs C. Ramchander Reddy (Adilabad), A. Govind Naik (Khanapur), Koneru Konappa (Sirpur) and A. Sridevi (Asifabad) and Collector R. Subba Rao attended.
