Officials of the Special Enforcement Bureau here on Wednesday released a poster warning people against the adverse use of sanitiser and dangerous chemical substances as substitute for liquor.

Superintendent of Police S. Senthil Kumar said special SEB teams in the district would focus on public spots vulnerable to the misuse of sanitiser by miscreants reportedly addicted to liquor. He said a series of campaigns against the adverse impact of consuming sanitiser as a substitute for liquor, including failure of vital organs and leading to blindness and death, would be taken up.

Raids

The SP said a vigil would be in place against the sale of spurious sanitisers. Similarly, raids would continue against illicit liquor.

Mr. Kumar urged people to share information about violation of Excise norms and persons consuming sanitisers through the SEB-Chittoor WhatsApp: 9440900004.

The SP said the SEB personnel in coordination with the officials of the Drugs department were conducting surprise inspections at several medical stores and super markets to check the quality of the sanitisers.
