Move to help monitor entry and exit of staff and that of outsiders

TIRUPATI: A multipurpose smart card system has been inaugurated at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) administrative office, basically to monitor the entry and exit of employees and also to keep tabs on the movement of outsiders into the office.

An employee has to swipe the card into the slot in the card reader at the entrance and register his thumb impression while entering/leaving the office. With an in-built memory of 1K, the card also stores details of employees and their family members along with their photographs, so that their visit to the Tirumala temple could be verified.

First card handed over

Inaugurating the system on Monday, TTD Executive Officer A.P.V.N. Sarma handed over the first card to the Special Grade Deputy Executive Officer V. Chengalrayalu. Mr. Sarma said that 10,500 cards would be distributed in a month, with preference to the staff working in the administrative building.

The card would be valid for five years.

The system was installed free of cost by Hindustan Computers Limited (HCL) as a humble contribution to the Lord. Joint Executive Officer G. Balaramaiah, Financial Advisor Anita S. Akella and EDP Manager Y. Sivasankar Reddy took part.
