SI suspended on graft charge

Hyderabad Sept. 21. A Sub-Inspector of Marredpally police station, G.V. Raman Reddy, was suspended on the charge of accepting bribe to let an accused person in a fake stamp paper racket busted by the police a few months ago.

Sleuths of the Police Commissioner's Task Force arrested a person, A. Venkateshwarlu, who was charged with operating the fake stamp paper racket. Subsequently, the case was handed over to the Marredpally police.

Mr. Reddy went to Guntur to arrest an accomplice of Venkateshwarlu, Srinivasa Rao and allegedly accepted Rs. 10,000 bribe from him. The matter came to light only after the Guntur police arrested Rao. Based on a report sent by the Guntur police, the Police Commissioner, M.V. Krishna Rao, suspended Mr. Reddy.
