Severe heat wave prevails in coastal Andhra

HYDERABAD: A picture of contrasts was available on Monday when severe heat wave conditions prevailed over the coastal districts, even as the South-West monsoon covered the southern parts of the State.

Under what seemed to be an extension of summer, a severe heat wave enveloped parts of Coastal Andhra taking the day temperatures to new peaks in the region. Many places in the region recorded temperatures above 40 degree Celsius. The day's highest temperature of 45 degree Celsius was recorded by Bapatla and Bhadrachalam.

According to the State Met office, the heat wave will continue in coastal Andhra for two more days.
