Rajiv Yuva Shakti to cover 1 lakh youngsters


MAHABUBNAGAR: Commissioner, Youth Services, G. Nageshwara Rao said that under Rajiv Yuva Shakti scheme during the financial year it was decided to cover 60 thousand units with one lakh beneficiaries by spending Rs.600 crores in the State.

Speaking to mediapersons at Jadcherla town on Thursday where he inspected several self employment schemes taken up under the scheme, said that Rs. 100 crores was earmarked as subsidy while beneficiary contribution was Rs. 60 crores and bank loans amounted Rs 440 crores. He informed that already some 42,000 units were accorded sanctions with an outlay of Rs. 311.85 crores.

Referring to youth welfare schemes, Mr. Nagaeshwara Rao said Rs 2.5 crores have been sanctioned to set up gyms in 1,000 mandals and each mandal would get Rs. 25,000. In addition to that, a sum of Rs. 2.3 crores were allotted to the districts at the rate of Rs.10 lakhs each to take up youth activities like leadership training programmes, youth festivals, cultural activities, AIDS awareness programmes and others.

He also said Rs.20 lakhs were sanctioned for the maintenance of six youth hostels located at Tirupati, Secunedrabad, Visakapatnam,Vijayawada, Nagarjunasagar and Warangal towns. The government has also sanctioned Rs.10 crores for construction of youth hostels at Karimnagar, Kadapa, Rajahmundry, Siddipet and Vizianagaram.
