Probe panel ignoring role of insiders: student body

HYDERABAD, MARCH 17. Student representatives owing allegiance to the soon to be formed Telugu Vidyarthi Sangham (TVS) of the Telugu Desam Party, have charged the Osmania University officials probing the alleged `MCA answer sheets scam' with ignoring the role of insiders and blaming the mediators and students reportedly involved in it.

The TVS representatives, claiming to be in possession of the answer sheets that were allegedly replaced, said they were being ignored by the panel despite being ready to prove "the role of those involved in the scam".

"We have all the proof. But the committee members are refusing to acknowledge our argument," said Nannuri Narsi Reddy of the TVS.

He alleged that two employees in the Examination Branch and an attender in the spot valuation camp were the main players.

He said fresh answer sheets are smuggled out and passed on to students for a sum. Later, they are replaced with the actual answer sheets, after incorporating the code number on them.

"Getting the code number is easy as they have access to these sheets kept in the confidential section," Mr. Reddy says.

Committee directive

Meanwhile, the committee has asked four students, who scored maximum marks, to appear before them for verification.

The university spokesperson when contacted said: "Action will be initiated against those found guilty only after the probe panel submits its report. Till then we cannot say anything. But, if the need arises we will ask the CB-CID to investigate."
