Pratibha Rani's in-laws' house searched

GUNTUR, OCT. 7. The police on Thursday searched the house of Sri Devi, mother-in-law of K. Pratibha Rani, who had alleged harassment, cheating, and found five objects about which she had mentioned in her original complaint. The search conducted on directions from the Human Rights Court in Guntur continued from 9.30 a.m. till 9 p.m. Prominent among the objects found were a letter written by Pratibha Rani to her mother seeking her help to take her out of the house as she was unable to bear the torture and a spring rod, which she alleged, was used to beat her. She showed the rooms where she was allegedly wrongfully confined and the police found the pesticide bottle, which she alleged was emptied into a cup for her to consume in an attempt to kill her and portray it as a suicide.

The Advocate Commissioner, B. Chandrasekhara Rao, and the Circle Inspector (West), Bhaskara Rao, conducted the search with Pratibha Rani guiding them through the house. The lock was broken open by the police in the presence of the designated people.
