VIJAYAWADA: The prajahita yatra launched by the city committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) evoked good response from the people on the second day with women in particular airing several grievances ranging from inadequate drinking water supply to unhygienic surroundings.

The CPI (M) city secretary, Ch. Babu Rao, who is leading the yatra, visited some areas in the 13th division of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation on Saturday and interacted with people. The residents brought to the notice of the CPI (M) leader the problems they were facing due to the erratic supply of drinking water. While drinking water supply was being made at 2 am in some areas giving sleepless nights to them, water supply in other areas was inadequate. In addition, the damage suffered by outflow drains converted them into mosquito breeding grounds resulting in health problems, the women complained.

Another major problem brought out by the people was the delay in giving house site pattas to residents of KL Rao Nagar, Deendayal Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Joji Nagar, Priyadarshini Colony and other areas
