Power workers’ strike enters third day

The indefinite strike of contract, outsourcing and piecemeal workers of various wings of Electricity Department continued on the third day on Thursday.

Addressing a dharna of the workers at the Gandhi statue near GVMC, CITU State president Ch. Narsinga Rao said the State government was delaying implementation of the Supreme Court judgment on equal pay for equal work.

He demanded scrapping of contract, outsourcing and piecemeal categories and direct payment of wages by the government doing away with the third party.

YSRCP leader Gudivada Amarnath said the government was not implementing the promises made by the TDP during the elections.
