“What is the meaning in conducting meetings by your (BJP) party on Polavaram? You have visited this place several times and nothing has been done for us as part of relief and rehabilitation. Officials are forcing us to vacate our houses overnight without completing the new houses at another place,” the Polavaram complained to the BJP MP, Ministers, MLAs and MLCs.

They stopped the VIP convoy which was returning after visiting Tadipudi, Pattisam and Polavaram project sites on Saturday. Shocked by the development, MP and State BJP president K. Haribabu, Ministers Kamineni Srinivas and P. Manikayala Rao patiently heard their grievances. The tribal families from Chegondipalli, Ramayyapeta and Pundrukota asked the leaders why they were not taking the evacuees’ issue seriously. “The officials are forcing us to vacate our houses. They have not completed the new houses and compensation for our lands has not been paid fully,” said families from Chegondipalli.

Villagers of Ramayyapeta said they wanted to build houses on their own but the officials were not ready to give money towards compensation under new R & R package. Dr. Srinivas and Mr. Haribabu assured the villagers of bring their grievances to the notice of the Chief Minister.
