Concern over rising attacks on teachers

HYDERABAD: The Osmania University Teachers' Association (OUTA) demanded the immediate suspension of the student who allegedly assaulted the Arts College Prinicpal G. Satynarayana, to send a strong message to students resorting to violence.

Expressing serious concern over the rising attacks on teachers by the students, the general body meeting of the OUTA passed a unanimous resolution to this effect on Saturday. The meeting demanded that action should be taken against the guilty students as per the statutes of the University within 15 days, failing which they would chalk out further course of action. A statement from the OUTA said the meeting also demanded police protection to all the institutions as well as teachers if the academic atmosphere has to be maintained. To express resentment against the culture of students attacking teachers, all teachers of the University would wear black badges on March 20.
