Officials urged to expedite land acquisition work

NELLORE, MARCH 24. The Chief Commissioner, Land Administration, S. Bhale Rao, has called upon officials of Somasila, Telugu Ganga and Swarnamukhi projects of Nellore district, to expedite the land acquisition work and help in completing the projects in time.

Addressing a meeting at the video-conference hall, at the Collectorate, here on Thursday, he hinted at the possibility of incentives for the officials taking keen interest in land acquisition. He also promised to take necessary action pertaining to forest clearance, shortage of surveyors and chainmen.

It has been stated that in respect of Somasila project, an extent of 2,074 acres was still to be acquired, in 12 villages. In respect of Telugu Ganga project and Kandaleru dam, still an extent of 9,308 acres are to be acquired, including 6,000 acres in Nellore circle and 3,308 acres in Srikalahasti circle. Mr. Bhale Rao, instructed that the land acquisition should be completed by September end.

He wanted land acquisition regarding 140 acres be undertaken in Vakadu and Kota mandals, in respect of feeder channels for Swarnamukhi barrage and other channels.

The official stressed the need for providing necessary training for the staff to expedite the completion of projects. The district Collector, B. Rajsekhar, informed the Commissioner, that a review would be undertaken once in a fortnight.
