`No compromise on Telangana issue'

`Camping in New Delhi only for achieving separate statehood'

KARIMNAGAR: The Union Minister for Labour and Employment, K. Chandrashekhar Rao, has reiterated that he will sacrifice his life for the cause of Telangana and will not compromise on the issue.

Speaking at a programme organised to distribute houses sanction letters to 6,855 beedi workers costing Rs. 27.40 crores here on Friday, Mr. Rao clarified that he was camping in New Delhi only for the achievement of Telangana statehood.

Refuting the charges made by the TDP and others over his absenteeism to the Karimnagar parliamentary constituency from where he was elected, he said that compared to last MPs of Karimnagar constituency he had taken up several developmental works.

Mr. Rao said that he had ensured the sanction of works costing Rs. 700 crores in Karimnagar district including the Rs. 340-crore drinking water scheme to all villages. He also assured to strive for the same for Peddapalli segment also.

Launching a scathing attacking against the former Chief Minister and TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, for shedding crocodile tears for the welfare of weavers and others during his recent visit to Karimnagar district.

New railway line

He also announced that the Karimnagar-Hyderabad new railway line via the temple town of Vemulawada and Siddipet costing around Rs. 308 crores would be taken up very soon.

He also said that work on the Karimnagar-Nizamabad railway line was fast progressing. He assured to ensure release of an additional Rs. 30 crores for extending the railway line from Jagtial town to Metpally during this phase.

Listing out various developmental works taken up in Karimnagar, he said that he would strive to provide as many houses to the beedi workers in the district.

He also assured release of scholarships to the children of beedi workers. The Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, S Jaipal Reddy, was all praise for Mr. Rao for the formation of UPA Government at the Centre.

The Minister, Md Fariduddin, the Government Whip, D. Sridhar, the district legislators and others were present.
