NHRC notice to Chief Secretary

HYDERABAD, JULY 24. Acting on a petition by the Child Rights Protection Forum (CRPF) on employment of 2,000 children in Sanghi Industries, the National Human Rights Commission has served a notice on the Chief Secretary to send a report within three weeks.

In a statement, C. Yadaiah, convenor of the CRPF, said it was now imperative for the State Government to conduct an inquiry and take action to withdraw child labourers from Sanghi Industries and end all forms of child labour in the State.

He recalled that a child labourer died and several others were injured when the van in which they were travelling met with an accident on June 15.

In all 70 children were travelling in the van to Sanghi Spinning Industries in Ranga Reddy district, to work in the night shift.
