Need to promote Telugu stressed

TIRUPATI, JULY 24. S peakers at a meet on "Mother tongue'' organised at the Sri Venkateswara high school here on Friday stressed the need to promote Telugu, in view of the ever-increasing craze for English.

The former secretary of TTD's Dharma Prachara Parishat, Samudrala Lakshmanaiah, spoke on the link between Sanskrit and Telugu and urged students to work for promotion of their mother tongue. The deputy educational officer, P. Nirmaladevi, urged English medium students to take up learning Telugu as well. The school headmaster, Desa Reddy, presented a medal to Vishnu Prasad, a class IX student, for winning the third place at the State-level Purana Prabodha exam conducted by Dharma Prachara Parishat.
