More services through eSeva planned

VISAKHAPATNAM, APRIL 24. Saukaryam, the pioneering Online facility of the Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (VMC) for paying civic taxes, is now a part of the eSeva service being provided by the Department of Information Technology and Communications.

According to the VMC sources, this marked more integration of the services of Saukaryam with those of eSeva than any takeover. Saukaryam will now be packaged with the services of major Government departments being offered at 12 eSeva centres that have become operational in the district. The eSeva centres in the district in the initial phase offered integrated payment services of municipalities, Road Transport Authority, Commercial Taxes, APSRTC and Eastern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh Limited besides facilitating issue of application forms for entrance examinations of universities and passports.

Services of other departments like Police, Labour, Education and Weights and Measures and Fire, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited and the facility of submission of passport forms are proposed to be added over the next six months. The eSeva centres, located in the city, Gajuwaka, Anakapalle and Bheemunipatnam, are open to the public from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on all working days and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays and national holidays.

The Department of Information Technology and Communications is undertaking the exercise to enable railway reservations, payment of the premia of Life Insurance Corporation of India and Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanam cottage bookings at eSeva centres.
