MLA's plea to release murder accused

HYDERABAD, AUG. 14. The Kavali MLA, Magunta Parvathamma, on Friday, urged the State Government, to release P.B. Ganesh, an accused in the case relating to the murder of her husband and the then MP, Subbarami Reddy.

"I saw on television the PW emissaries and other civil liberties leaders, requesting the Governor, Surjit Singh Barnala to order remission of the jail sentence of Ganesh. I also feel that having suffered an almost 10-year term behind bars, he deserves his right to life. I urge the Government to release him from jail and lead a free life," the Congress MLA told The Hindu over phone.

The PW emissaries, P. Varavara Rao and G. Kalyan Rao and the civil liberties leaders, K. Balagopal and Jeevan Kumar on Thursday met the Home Minister, K. Jana Reddy1.

When the Home Minister expressed his `helplessness' in the matter, they called on the Governor and sought his intervention.
