Minister inaugurates mineral water plants

Mineral water plants have considerably brought down the incidence of infectious diseases in the district, said Minister for Minor Irrigation T.G. Venkatesh.

Addressing a function after inaugurating the mineral water plant at SC Girls Hostel and BC Boys Hostel here on Tuesday, he said contaminated water was the source of infections in children.

Later, he inaugurated the office room, waiting room and dress changing enclosure at the swimming pool. The Minister said he had been the life-time member of the swimming pool since its inception in 1976. The swimming pool was being modernised and more facilities were created for children.

He said the road behind the swimming pool would be developed as walking track. He promised the inmates of social welfare hostels that he would make alternate arrangements in case of delay in payment of cosmetic charges.

He took part in the distribution of ration cards at BC Boys Hostel and said every effort was being made to beautify the Kurnool city after it was ravaged by floods in 2009.
