Minister distributes assets to beneficiaries


KAKINADA: The Minister for Roads and Buildings Jakkampudi Ramamohanarao distributed Rs.15 lakhs worth of assets to beneficiaries of various schemes at a function held at Peddapuram here on Wednesday. While 15 beneficiaries of SC Corporation were given loans to the tune of Rs.1.50 lakhs, another 25 beneficiaries were provided with loans to the tune of Rs.3.75 lakhs through the B.C Corporation. The Minister distributed Rs.93,000 towards revolving fund to seven women self help groups, Rs.62,000 towards old age pensions to 62 persons.

He also distributed gas stoves to 52 beneficiaries under the Deepam scheme and loan sanctioning letters to 450 beneficiaries of a housing scheme.

Addressing a meeting held at the municipal auditorium, he said that the Government had sanctioned Rs.1,380 crores for taking up infrastructure development in municipalities such as drainage, roads and drinking water facility. He advised the people to bring to the notice of the Chief Minister about their problems during the ensuing Rajiv Nagarabata programme scheduled for August 22. Later, accompanied by the Collector Anil Kumar Singhal, SP Naveen Chand, MLAs -- Thota Gopalakrishna and Thota Narasimham -- the Minister went round various places in the town and inspected the arrangements being made for the Chief Minister's visit.
