Metro Water Board steps up supply

HYDERABAD, MARCH 3. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has increased the drawal from the Osmansagar and Himayatsagar reservoirs to take the supply to 146 mgd from March 1.

The Metro Water board, which was supplying 138 mgd to meet the requirements of the city and surrounding municipalities, began drawing 13 mgd each from the above two reservoirs as against the earlier nine mgd.

The supplies from the Manjira and the Singur stand at 45 mgd and 75 mgd respectively.

The Director (Technical) of the HMWS&SB, C.S.Reddy, said the quantum of water supply had been increased in tune with the requirement for summer.

However, there had been no increase in the number of water tankers.

The water levels in the four reservoirs would allow them to continue the existing quantum of supply till August, he said.
