Medical exhibition opens today

HYDERABAD, DEC. 6. After a gap of 25 years, Gandhi Medical College (GMC) is holding a medical exhibition, MEDEX-2004. The 10-day exhibition will be inaugurated by the Home Minister, K. Jana Reddy, on Tuesday. The exhibition is being organised as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the college.

G. Kishore Roy, principal, GMC, and A.Y. Chary, Superintendent, Gandhi Hospital, told presspersons here on Monday that the exhibition was intended to enlighten the student community and general public about various organs of the human body, common diseases and their cure. There was a lot of health consciousness among people these days and the medical exhibition would be of great help, they said. The exhibition will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. from December 7 to 16. A nominal fee of Rs. 10 will be charged for the general public and for schoolchildren the entry ticket is Rs. 5. If there are more than 100 children from any school, a concession of 25 per cent will be given.

Lectures and short films on various diseases will also be organised during the exhibition.
