MCH implements poll code

HYDERABAD, MARCH 3. The Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) has begun to implement the election code of conduct as per the directions given by the Election Commission.

The Corporation has begun removing hoardings, cutouts, banners, flags and other publicity material put up by various political parties in different parts of the twin cities pressing its personnel into service. The wall posters and wall writings too are being removed or scrubbed clean.

While defacement of public property and putting of buntings causing inconvenience to the public is already banned as per the State Government Act, political parties have to take the consent of private property owners in case they wish to put up a banner or write on the walls as per the EC directive. The MCH Commissioner and District Election Officer, Chitra Ramachandran, said the conduct code would be implemented strictly.
