HYDERABAD: A day after an alleged bootlegger Raju Singh, disappeared under mysterious circumstances, his body surfaced in the waters of Ibrahimguda tank on Wednesday.

Singh's wife Chinna Bai, who accused the Golconda excise constables of beating up her husband and forcing him to jump into the tank on Tuesday, said on Wednesday that her charges turned out to be true. However, the Excise officials denied the charge. The Narsingi police altered the sections of law from a case of man missing to suspicious death after finding the body. The Sub-Inspector, Hari Krishna, said there were no injuries on the body. But, Chinna Bai maintained that she saw some bloodstains on her husband's nose.

According to her, a fisherman Ramesh, saw the constables beating her husband. "Unable to bear their torture, my husband jumped into the tank and died. After the excise officials, now police are doing injustice to me by wiping out the evidence," she charged.
