NELLORE, OCT. 11. The district Collector and Special Officer of Nellore Municipal Corporation, B. Rajsekhar, has urged employees to work hard, as the municipality has been upgraded into a corporation, with high expectations from the people.

Addressing employees of various departments at the municipal office here on Monday evening, the official pointed out that there was a major responsibility on the part of employees, to transform Nellore Corporation into a model one, on par with the municipal corporations of Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry and Guntur.

Sanitation stressed

"Accordingly there should be a corresponding change in the mindset of employees," he pointed. The Collector mainly stressed on the sanitation aspect, widening of roads and proper collection of taxes. He was of the view that if all the 926 sanitary staff worked properly, the town would be clean and free of the mosquito menace.

He warned that the contract of private agencies would be summarily terminated, if their work pertaining to sanitation was found to be not up to the mark.

To start with two or three roads in the town would be identified and developed on par with a corporation. Encroachments will be summarily removed to facilitate proper town planning. The official, asked the bill collectors to properly collect the taxes and issue show-cause notices to defaulters, failing which criminal action would be taken.

`Use technology'

The Collector advised the staff to properly use the available technology to provide more services to people. In this connection, he made particular reference to e-Seva centres.
