Make healthcare affordable: Speaker

HYDERBAD, AUG. 21. The Speaker, K. R. Suresh Reddy, advised the corporate hospitals and premier health care institutions to make the cost of advanced treatment within the reach of people in rural areas.

Mr. Reddy was speaking at an international workshop on Biliary Disorders organised by the Indian Chapter of International Hepato Pancreato Biliary Association (IHPBA) and the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology here.

The chief gastroenterologist of Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, Dr. D. Nageswar Reddy, said the three-day workshop would cover endoscopic, laparoscopic and surgical procedures on the biliary system.

Doctors felicitated

Mr. Suresh Reddy felicitated eminent doctors such as Yuji Nimura, considered father of liver surgery, Ronal Scoot Chamberlain from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, Mohan De Silva and Fernando from Sri Lanka and Krishna V. Menon from St. James University Hospital, UK. The president of the Indian chapter of IHPBA, Rangabhashyam, Krishna Rao, V. N. Shrikande, Manohar Joshi and Shiv Sareen, were also felicitated.
