‘Ten acres earmarked for providing housing to poor’

VIJAYAWADA: Efforts are being made to earmark 10 acres behind ‘new Autonagar’ area to provide housing for the poor under the Indiramma scheme, Kankipadu MLA Devineni Rajasekhar has said.

Briefing reporters after a meeting held to review the implementation of various State Government schemes in Kankipadu, Penamaluru and Vijayawada Rural mandals in his Assembly Constituency Mr Rajasekhar said Sub-Collector Gavrav Uppal had assured him that he would look into the matter and expedite construction of houses. The MLA said proposals for construction of a bridge across Ryve’s canal at Enikepadu with Rs 1.75 crores released by NABARD were finalised at the meeting. He said all representations received during Praja Padham were taken to the notice of district Collector Sailaja Ramiyer. The bridge over the canals in Ramavarapadu for which Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy laid foundation stone would also take shape by November, he said. Zilla Parishad vice-chairman Tatineni Padmavathi, ZPTC member G. Usha, and MPPs of the three mandals attended the meeting.
