‘Take action against firms selling spurious medicines’

Some companies offering substantial commissions: AIYF

KADAPA: All India Youth Federation district council on Monday demanded stern action against pharmaceutical firms and medical agencies that were selling spurious medicines and endangering lives.

Speaking at dharna before Collectorate, AIYF district president G.V. Mohan Krishna and secretary P. Subbarayudu named some pharmaceutical companies and alleged that they were selling some medicines unauthorisedly by offering substantial commissions.

Raids organised

Director-General of Drug Control R.P. Meena organised raids to unearth 33 spurious drugs worth about Rs. 5 crore.

Demanding raids in Kadapa district to seize spurious drugs, they warned of launching an agitation if official action was not forthcoming. AIYF district vice-presidents T. Babu, Praveen and Sikander, district and city executive members participated.
