Programme in all Assembly constituencies

Administrators of all districts to be involved

TIRUPATI: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) will conduct ‘Kalyanamastu’, its prestigious mass marriage programme, at all the 294 Assembly constituency headquarters in the State on Oct 28. Thousands of eligible girls and boys are expected to enter into a wedlock between 9.20 a.m. and 9.30 a.m. on the said date, when the auspicious Danishta star reigns with Vrischika Lagnam.

This time, it has been decided to actively involve the administrators of various districts in the programme so as to achieve the maximum synergic effect.

As requested by the TTD, the State government has issued an order G.O. Ms.No.1449 dated 30 Sep 2009, asking the district Collectors to extend their cooperation in making the programme a success.

Addressing a media conference here on Saturday, the TTD Executive Officer I.Y.R. Krishna Rao explained that the couples, along with their respective parents, would be provided free darshan at the Venkateswara temple and accommodation at Tirumala after the wedding. The district-level officials and public representatives would be involved in publicising the event and making ground level arrangements. The publicity material would be dispatched forthwith so as to reach the respective destinations by October 10.

Mr. Rao will discuss the preliminaries with the district collectors through a teleconference on Monday, followed by a video-conference by the Chief Minister K. Rosaiah.
