Little hands to wave in traffic sanity

HYDERABAD, AUG. 21. Don't be surprised if you see tiny tots manning traffic near their schools.

They are now part of the traffic wing of the city police and are called `Traffic commandos'.

On Saturday, 3,000 school children from 103 schools, who have been trained in regulating traffic, took oath at a special investiture ceremony and were initiated into the department, by megastar Chiranjeevi.

There was the traditional march past and a host of cultural programmes, by the `commandos' at Goshamahal stadium.

On seeing Chiranjeevi, they whistled and tried to get closer to him, and catch his eye.

A few enterprising ones tried to get his autograph. Some were lucky, but others missed out.

The city Police Commissioner, R. P. Singh, Additional Commissioner (Traffic) Tejdeep Kaur Menon and Managing Director of State Bank of Hyderabad, Amitabha Guha were present.
