“Special consent obtained for Naidu’s flight”

Special Correspondent

VISAKHAPATNAM : Special permission was obtained for the flight in which the Telugu Desam president, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, travelled from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad around midnight on Republic Day.

According to sources, it was for the first time that permission was granted for the operation of flight from Visakhapatnam airport after midnight. It may be recalled that, for various reasons, flight operations at the Visakhapatnam airport are limited from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.. However. Mr. Naidu had a busy schedule on the Republic Day in Srikakulam district where he was participating in the ‘mee kosam’ programme and as he had to attend an important programme at Hyderabad in the early hours of Tuesday, TDP leaders here chartered a plane and obtained the required special permission. The new airport terminal with night landing facilities is likely to be ready by next month. It was scheduled to be inaugurated last month, but was delayed. Airport authorities however assert that, except for minor works, all works of the new airport terminal had been completed and it would be inaugurated any time next month.
