Former Cabinet Minister in Andhra Pradesh Kakani Venkataratnam died of heart attack at the peak of Jai Andhra movement for a separate Andhra State and all the investments from Andhra region migrated to Hyderabad, said former Rajya Sabha member Yelamanchili Shivaji.

Garlanding the statue of Kakani Venkataratnam at Benz Circle in the city on Wednesday, he said that had the separate Andhra leader survived for another one month, the State would have got formed and capital situated between Vijayawada and Guntur. “Even today it is not too late and the State should be bifurcated and capital situated between Vijayawada and Guntur to spur economic growth of the region,” Dr. Shivaji opined.

As part of the 41{+s}{+t}death anniversary of Venkataratnam, leaders from Guntur and Krishna Districts gathered at the Benz Circle demanding creation of separate Andhra again to help people from the region develop by investing their money and skills in coastal areas and Rayalaseema.

Those who attended included RGK Prasad, G.V. Ramprasad, Jai Babu and others.
