Huge haul of contraband silver, cash

TIRUPATI, FEB. 26. The Renigunta police today seized contraband silver and cash by trapping a duo hanging around the Renigunta railway junction with the booty. The two moving around the railway foot-overbriedge with the contraband goods and hard cash to a tune of Rs.4.41 lakhs under suspicious circumstances were overpowered by the police party, led by the Circle Inspector, K.S. Nanjundappa, when they tried to flee the scene on seeing the cops zeroing in on them.

The police said that the accused persons-- P.Selvakumar and A.Natraj-- both from Salem in Tamil Nadu, allegedly confessed that they were gold and silver traders trying to smuggle silver to evade the tax net.
