House sites for more Home Guards likely

KURNOOL, DEC. 6. The Superintendent of Police, V.R.K. Mohan Rao, has said negotiations are being held with the Revenue Department to provide house sites to 238 home guards in the city. In the first batch, 100 home guards were given sites.

Addressing a function in connection with the Home Guards Raising Day here on Monday, he said the proposal to enhance the wages of home guards from Rs 75 to Rs 100 per day was under consideration of the Government. He said the home guards were provided an insurance cover of Rs 1 lakh under Janata Insurance policy. Also, the children of home guards were given education scholarships up to Rs 4,000.


Under the medical assistance scheme, the families of home guards were given up to Rs 10,000. In case of death of home guards, Rs 15,000 was given as grant.

The Additional SP, Srinivasa Reddy, said a dormitory was under consideration for the welfare of home guards in the city. The district police was coordinating with the higher-ups to pay wages at the end of every month.

The Deputy SPs, R.N. Ammi Reddy, Krishna Murthy, the Assistant Commandants of APSP, Arthur, Varaprasada Rao and others were present.
