Held on charge of lifting bikes

HYDERABAD: A home guard, who allegedly wanted to lead a luxurious life more by crook than by hook, ended up behind the bars. The Chikkadpally police on Saturday arrested G. Laxmi Narsimha, 35, of Begumpet traffic police station and recovered nine stolen motorcycles from his possession.

The home guard admitted to lifting the nine bikes, saying he was addicted to a lavish lifestyle and his salary could not fulfil his needs, the Chikkadpally Inspector V.N.V. Satyanarayana said. "Joy-riding was another motive that drove him to vehicle lifting," he explained.

The spree of thefts came to an end on Friday when he was caught at Domalguda during vehicle checking.
