Governor, CM greet people on Christmas

HYDERABAD Dec.24. The Governor, Surjit Singh Barnala, has greeted Christians and people of the State on the eve of Christmas. In a message, he urged people to take a pledge on Christmas to "work for peace, harmony and goodwill".

Mr. Barnala described Christ as a prophet of love and compassion. "His message is as relevant today as it had been always. The values cherished by Jesus and propagated by Christians have universal appeal and significance.

He hoped that this year's celebrations would help all faiths come closer and strengthen the bonds of amity, goodwill, love and friendship.

The Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Union Minister of State for Urban Development, and the Speaker of the Assembly, Pratibha Bharati, conveyed their greetings to Christians and people.

In his message, Mr. Naidu said Christ had sacrificed his life for propagating peace, love, kindness, non-violence, sympathy and tolerance in society. He wished that the Christmas celebrations would bring happiness to everyone in society.

Mr. Dattatreya appreciated Christians for their services to society through the education and health sectors.

Ms. Pratibha Bharati called upon people to follow the path of non-violence, peace and equality shown by Christ. She wished Christian families happiness, wealth and prosperity.
