Giving women confidence

HYDERABAD, MARCH 11. Confidence, the complete mid-life health care centre for women, is presenting a cultural programme, `Ranjani' - a celebration of womanhood,' in connection with International Women's Day here on Sunday evening.

The programme to be presented by its members, aged 35 years and above, at Indira Priyadarshni Auditorium, Public Gardens, Hyderabad, will have a variety of dances and music, a saree show where women will walk the ramp draped in different styles, a skit on health care and antakshari competition. One of the founders of the centre, gynaecologist

Syamala told reporters here on Friday that the organisation was set up two years ago to take care of health needs of women of all age groups -- physical and emotional -- and help them maintain good health by taking precautions, particularly at adolescence, pregnancy and midlife (menopausal) when hormonal changes could result in stress.

Health education

"The centre takes care of women through health education, keeping them fit through exercises, comprising yoga, meditation and aerobics, and keeping problems like osteoporosis at bay," she said.

Members take to recreational activities like music and dance irrespective of their age, Syamala, who set up the centre along with gynaecologist Suniti R. Satwalekar of Shanta Bai Nursing Home, Abids, said.

Donor passes for the show would be available at Confidence Centre, Abids Road, Ph.No.55364953 or Shanta Bai Nursing Home, Ph.No.23202163.
