Give judgment on Amaravati, NGT urged

Social activist Bolisetty Satyanarayana on Saturday appealed to the National Green Tribunal to pass on the judgment on the petition filed by him against environmental clearance to the construction of capital at Amaravati.

The bench of NGT, after hearing the arguments, reserved the judgment three months ago.

In larger public interest, Mr. Satyanarayana said it should be pronounced at the earliest.

Incidentally, Justice Swatentra Kumar is in city in connection with the two-day regional conference of NGT. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will attend the valedictory of the two-day event on Sunday.

Mr. Satyanarayana told reporters here that the Chief Minister should restrain from construction on the floodplains and sought action against him for furnishing ‘false’ information during the arguments in the NGT.

He urged Mr. Naidu to move away from Lingamaneni Estate which was inside the river and urged NGT to demolish it.

“Only if it is done, others will not dare to violate the law and build structures on the floodplains and river conservative zones.

The social activist said Mr. Naidu should make a plan to remove other constructions from the floodplains to become an ‘eco-conscious’ Chief Minister.
