VISAKHAPATNAM: Gitam Institute of Foreign Trade (GIFT) has been ranked second best International Business School in the country next only to the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, said its director K. Ranganathan.

Addressing a media conference on Friday in connection with the sixth convocation of GIFT, he said that 65 students would get their degrees at the convocation to be held on Saturday. Bank of Baroda Chairman and Managing Director Anil K. Khandelwal would deliver the convocation address.

`Good faculty'

``The core strength of GIFT is its faculty who are drawn from different backgrounds with vast experience.

Some of the faculty members have served abroad,'' Prof. Ranganathan said.

Last year GIFT had provided 100 per cent placement to its students, he revealed. Since its inception, eight had found placements abroad.

He hinted that students who had their basic degree in professional subjects like engineering and opted for the master programme in international business stood a better chance of being recruited in foreign countries.

Placement chances

GIFT placement cell chairman V.G. Patnaik said that in view of the WTO regime, the MPIB course would be more relevant to even those students who wished to take up jobs in MNCs in the country and even for those interested in domestic business.

Its consultancy and management development cell chief Gan Bhukta spoke.
