Three held; another accused person at large

Crime committed on the outskirts of Armoor townLater, the victims was strangulated to death

NIZAMABAD: Unravelling the mystery that shrouded the sensational gangrape and murder of a minor girl and resident of Bheemgal, the Armoor police on Saturday arrested three out of the four accused persons in the case. Pulluri Srinivas, Lingampally Suresh and Nelakanta Ashok were arrested and remanded after producing them before mediapersons. The fourth accused person Abdul Naseem is at large. All the accused persons belong to Armoor town.

Giving details of the case here, Deputy IG Anjani Kumar said that on the night of June 7 last year the accused persons allegedly took the victim, a Class 10 studentfrom Siddhulagutta, to a junior college on the outskirts of Armoor town and committed the heinous crime.

Later, fearing disclosure of their identity by the girl the accused persons allegedly strangulated her to death and dumped the body at an abandoned building nearby. Subsequently, they had taken shelter at different places.

Since the accused persons were in the habit of committing petty offences, they were arrested in a particular case. During the course of interrogation they confessed to the ghastly crime, Mr. Anjani Kumar said, and added that the police had strong evidence to establish the case in the court.

Cash award

Praising the efforts of head constable Narasinga Rao and constable Santhose of Armoor police station for bringing the accused persons to book, he announced a cash reward of Rs.1,000 to each of them. He said Assistant SI Bhoomaiah Gupta and constable Raju of the same station exhibited excellent work, and hence they needed special mention.
