Four on way back from Sonia's meet die in mishap

WARANGAL, MARCH. 17. Four persons died and six others were seriously injured in a road accident while they were returning from Hyderabad after attending Sonia Gandhi's public meeting near Station Ghanpur late last night.

The deceased included the MPTC member, V. Raghavulu of Sadireddypalli of Kothaguda mandal, E. Pagadaiah of Kamaram village of Chennaraopet mandal, the jeep driver, P. Mallaiah and Veeraswamy of Gudur mandal.

The jeep collided with a lorry. It was overloaded and three passengers died on the spot while another succumbed at MGM Hospital. All the injured have been shifted to MGM Hospital.

The Major Irrigation Minister, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, the Social Welfare Minister, D.S. Redya Naik, the DCC president, G.V. Ramana Reddy, and others visited the hospital and consoled the members of the deceased persons and later called on the injured.

The ministers announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to each of those killed in the accident and said the families would be extended other benefits under various welfare schemes.
