Former Vice-Chancellor of BRAOU passes away

Hyderabad: Former Vice-Chancellor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University Afzal Mohammed died here on Thursday after a brief illness. He was 65. He is survived by wife and four sons.

Prof. Afzal was admitted to the Mediciti Hospital on Wednesday following a severe asthmatic attack. He breathed his last around 11 a.m on Wednesday and was buried at Dargah Yousafain in the evening.

Brother of noted novelist, Jeelani Banu, Prof. Afzal started his career as a geography lecturer in Osmania University. TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed grief at the death of Prof. Afzal here on Thursday. In a message, he recalled Prof. Afzal's contribution in spreading the courses of the Open University.
