Former engineer jailed for graft

HYDERABAD, AUG. 21. A former assistant engineer of the Irrigation Department, G.V. Ramanaiah, was sentenced to undergo six months rigorous imprisonment and pay Rs. 1,000 fine, as he was found guilty in a corruption case.

Ramanaiah was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on March 1, 1994 on charges of accepting Rs. 750 bribe from a complainant while working as AE of Buckingham Canal of Mypadu section in Nellore district, a press release said.
