FinTech conference a success: Official

‘We will build on the momentum and leverage it to generate employment’

The State government’s maiden two-day FinTech Spring Conference-2017 concluded here on Friday on a high note with over 15 agreements being signed.

Partnership agreements were signed by the government with companies such as Lattice80, Hyderabad Angels, Forum Synergies, F6S, Hackerearth, Anthill, Paradigm IT, Pearson, NGX Labs, Zone Startups, TFL, Primechain, Google and HDFC. The conference saw over 300 participants, who included 30 international delegates and a 20-member delegation headed by Monetary Authority of Singapore.

In all, 150 entries were received from across 15 countries for the FinTech Valley Start-up Challenge.

Prize winners

Prizes were won by iProov in the insurance category, Kyriba & Nimbuzz in the banking category, and Hello Soda & Blueocean in the capital markets category.

The winners received Rs. 5 lakh cash prize and six months free office space in the FinTech Valley Tower in Visakhapatnam.

J. A. Chowdary, Special Chief Secretary and IT Adviser to the Chief Minister, thanked the gathering for reposing their faith in the initiative and said: “This two-day conference is a success in encouraging the spirit of the ‘fintectonic’ culture. We intend to build on this momentum and leverage it to generate employment that meets new demands of the global economy.”

Andhra Pradesh Technology Services (APTS) managing director Premchand spoke about creating joint ventures and special purpose vehicles with innovative start-ups.

Mr. Premchand said: “We are actively looking to collaborate with start-ups to open doors and conduct business with Andhra Pradesh and other State governments as well.”
