Expansion plans for Qatar Airways

HYDERABAD, NOV. 29. Qatar Airways is planning to connect more destinations in India to the Gulf region and Europe by 2005, apart from the existing Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Hyderabad and Mumbai. The expansion plan also includes North America, Seychelles, Yangon, Athens, Tunis, Algiers, Osaka, Beijing, Melbourne and Johannesburg.

The airline's district sales manager, central India, R. Bharathan, said even with the existing fleet of 36 aircraft, they had increased the frequency of flights from three a week to a dozen from November 1, thanks to the open sky policy and patronage from Hyderabad, which accounts for 50 per cent of passengers from India.
