EAMCET test paper pattern rationalised

HYDERABAD Oct. 5. The A.P. State Council of Higher Education has announced that the Government had issued orders rationalising the pattern of EAMCET test paper and that it would be applicable from EAMCET - 2003, from the academic year 2003-2004 onwards.

Accordingly, the Secretary of the Council, V. Jayarami Reddy said that both in the Engineering and Medical Streams, the number of multiple choice questions had been reduced to 160 from 200. The break-up is as follows. In the Engineering Stream, for Mathematics, it has been revised from 100 earlier to 80 and for Physics and Chemistry, from 50 earlier to 40.

Likewise, in the Medical Stream, for all the four subjects - Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, the number of multiple choice questions have been reduced to 40 from 50 earlier.

There is no change in the duration of the examination and it will be for three hours. Further, the test paper will be designed to test the quality learning of the candidates appearing for EAMCET on the aspects like conceptual clarity, analytical ability and knowledge of the subject, a press release said.


The Department of Technical Education has announced that counselling for applicants seeking admission to new diploma courses will be held at the Sanketika Vidya Bhavan (EAMCET Centre), Masab Tank in the city from October 7 to 9. Counselling will start at 10 a.m. on all three days.

According to a schedule released here, the first day's counselling will be for candidates who have passed Intermediate or equivalent in first attempt and secured more than 657 out of 100 marks and all sponsored candidates.

The second day will involve counselling of those who have passed Intermediate or its equivalent in the first attempt and secured less than 657 out of 1000 marks, while the third day will be those candidates who have passed in more than one attempt, a press release said.
