KURNOOL: The Collector, Vikas Raj, asked villagers to demand more development works if the sanctioned ones did not help check migration of labourers. Addressing a meeting of Praja Patham at Brahmanakotkur on Saturday, he said works worth Rs. 10 lakhs were sanctioned for Brahmanakotkur to solve drinking water and repair roads.

The MLA, Gouru Charita Reddy, urged the Collector to sanction rice worth Rs. 15 lakhs for Nandikotkur town to facilitate execution of Rs. 30 lakh works. She said 18 rounds of Janmabhoomi was taken up in Brahmanakotkur but no development was witnessed in the village.

Mr. Vikas Raj said priority was given to solving drinking water problem during summer. Out of 18 borewells, five had become defunct, he said.

The Collector and the MLA gave away pensions and LPG connections to members of self-help groups.

Inadequate power

At Pedapadu, the MLA, M. Sikhamani, took part in the Praja Patham programme. The villagers brought to the notice of the officials and MLA that seven-hour power supply was inadequate to fill drinking water tanks. Also, washermen requested the authorities for construction of dhobi ghats.
