Deer park to be ready by Jan.

KARIMNAGAR NOV. 9. Deer park, which is being developed at a cost of Rs. 1.3 crore on the shores of the picturesque Lower Manair Dam (LMD) reservoir on the outskirts of the town, will opened in January next.

The park has been taken up as part of SRSP Eco-restoration project under AP-III with the World Bank assistance. The park will house deer, antelopes, birds and peacocks.

The Forest Department is also setting up an educational centre, a library on wild life and ecology and museum to attract students. The park will also have a reception centre, a canteen and other facilities for the benefit of visitors. The chief wild life warden of AP, Hitesh Malhotra, visited the park on Saturday and reviewed the progress of the work. He instructed the authorities to expedite the work to facilitate its inauguration on `Sankranthi.'

The DFO (West), Y. Madhusudhan Reddy. told The Hindu that they were planning to introduce 15 to 20 deer and antelopes in the first phase. He said that they were taking all measures for the protection of animals in their enclosures by developing greenery.
